How does the AI trip planner work?
You answer five questions — who, when, where, what you love, and your style. Lief, our planner, matches them against seasonal logistics (aurora windows, ferry timetables, daylight) and drafts a day-by-day route with stays and honest guide prices. A human specialist then refines and confirms everything before any booking.
Is the AI planner really free?
Yes — free to use, no sign-up, no card. We only earn when you choose to book the refined journey with our team.
Will a human check my itinerary?
Always. Every itinerary that becomes a booking is reviewed, priced and booked by a named TripNord specialist in Oslo. Lief is brilliant at drafts; humans make the calls.
How far in advance should I book?
Winter Lapland and glass igloos: 4–8 months for best choice. Summer fjords and Lofoten: 3–6 months. City breaks: whenever — though summer weekends fill fast. Last-minute? Ask; the North sometimes surprises.
What is included in a TripNord journey?
Everything listed in your itinerary: stays, inter-city transport, named experiences and our 24/7 travel support. International flights to the region are usually excluded, but we advise on the best routings and can book them on request.
How do payments work?
A 20% deposit confirms your journey; the balance is due 45 days before departure. We accept major cards and bank transfer, and price in EUR with NOK/USD equivalents on request.
What is your cancellation policy?
Free date changes up to 30 days before departure. Cancellations: full refund minus deposit up to 45 days out, then a sliding scale detailed in your booking terms. We always pass on whatever suppliers refund us.
Is my money protected?
Yes. TripNord AS is a member of the Norwegian Travel Guarantee Fund (Reisegarantifondet), the statutory protection scheme for package travel sold in Norway.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes — comprehensive travel insurance including winter activities is a booking condition. We’ll flag the activity codes (dog sledding, glacier hiking) your insurer needs to know about.
Do you arrange visas?
The Nordics are in Schengen; many nationalities travel visa-free and others need a single Schengen visa. We provide the itinerary confirmations and invitation letters consulates ask for, and point you to the right application route.
Can you plan trips for families with young kids?
Happily — Lapland was practically designed for them. We adjust sled distances, add igloo nights early (kids fall asleep before the aurora, which is why glass roofs exist), and keep travel legs short.
What happens if the northern lights don’t show?
No one can command the sky — but on 4+ night Arctic stays with mobile chases, 96% of our guests see them. If a specific guided chase is fully clouded out, most partners offer a free second attempt where scheduling allows.
